PKNS sponsored RM520,000 to wedding of the year....

Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim today ordered auditors from Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) to investigate allegations raised in the state assembly of cronyism in the management of PKNS. He said the team of auditors has been given two weeks to complete their investigations and submit their recommendations to the state government.

“After the investigation is completed, if we find there is a necessity we may raise the issue in Selcat (Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency),” he said during a press conference.

Khalid was responding to allegations raised in the state assembly yesterday by Hulu Klang state assemblyperson Saari Sungib of cronyism and abuse of power in PKNS, including its alleged RM520,000 sponsorship for the wedding dinner of Malaysian astronaut Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.

He had also questioned the appointment of certain individuals said to be friends of a senior management executive to various positions in PKNS with big salaries.

Selangor PAS also issued a statement today urging Khalid to launch an investigation into the various allegations raised by Saari. Selangor PAS deputy commissioner Dr Che Rosli Che Mat said it is vital that the state handle the situation as best as possible to avoid negative impact on PKNS' credibility as the state's main agency for development.

“If the information revealed shows a basis, then drastic action must be taken to free PKNS from such destructive elements,” he said.
