Salam ‘I Love You dari 38,000 kaki’...

I love you :x #love #caption #wings #aircraft".

Jika subsidi dikembalikan seperti dituntut PKR, harga RON95 hanyalah RM1.61 seliter.

Baca seterusnya...

Rescue workers carry debris recovered from the ocean, presumed to be part of the AirAsia plane.
Bodies recovered as bad weather hampers search...

One of the bodies discovered in the early stages of the recovery mission of AirAsia QZ8105 may be of Monash University student Kevin Alexander Soetjipto.

Search and rescue operations chief Tatang Zaenudin confirmed to Fairfax Media that objects found on one of the seven bodies recovered so far indicate that it might have been Mr Soetjipto, a financial services student at the Melbourne university.

Local media reports said bodies were found with identification documents. Mr Soetjipto, originally from Malang in Eastern Indonesia, was in seat 6A of the doomed flight, apparently with two members of his family.

Another person has been tentatively named as Surabaya citizen Hayati Sutfiah Hamid. Formal identification will not be made until dental, fingerprint or DNA evidence is checked.

Mr Zaenudin contradicted earlier reports quoting him saying one of the recovered bodies was wearing a life jacket. He clarified, saying a life jacket was found near one of the bodies. The issue is significant, because a body wearing a life jacket suggests passengers had time enough time to react to the problems that led to the crash.

Bad weather on Wednesday prevented aircraft from continuing the search for bodies and debris from the flight, and seas were too rough and riven by currents for divers to descend to depths of up to 50 metres where the main fuselage of the plane lies.

Complicating the search was the fact that bodies are being found in ones and twos floating free of the fuselage, having been swept away by ocean currents. By Wednesday afternoon, seven had been recovered, the last at 10.20am local time by a Malaysian vessel working in a different search zone from the main wreckage.

A sonar image shows a large, dark object on the sea bed, believed to be the body of the plane, is lying at a depth of 30 to 50 metres underwater. So far, four male and three female bodies have been found and on Wednesday night two were due to be flown back to Surabaya.

Five more were being held at sea on an Indonesian naval command ship called the Bung Tomo. It would stay there until weather conditions improve, search and rescue agency chief Bambang Sulistyo said. Authorities have not released any details about age or preliminary identities except that one appears to be that of 20-year-old trainee flight assistant Khairunisa Haidar Fauzi.

The bodies will eventually be brought back for identification and examination at the police hospital in central Surabaya. Until then, anxious families are still waiting at Juanda airport. Doctors began yesterday taking blood samples from them to extract DNA for identification purposes.

Ms Khairunisa was tentatively identified by the AirAsia name tag still attached to her uniform. Her father, Haidar Fauzi, told Fairfax Media he had heard the news, though it had not been officially confirmed.

"This is what we expected, and the sooner the body is returned, the sooner we can have her back," Mr Haidar said.

He said he and his wife were not distraught, "because we only borrowed our daughter from God and now he has taken her back.

"We plan on burying her back in our home town, Palembang. We've been promised they will facilitate it.

Mr Haidar had previously said he was "well prepared" to hear of his daughter's fate, saying that she would have put the lives of her passengers ahead of her own.

Indonesian newspaper Kompas reported that three of the bodies were found holding hands. The paper quoted Lieutenant Airman Tri Wobowo, one of the co-pilots of the aircraft participating in the search, who said: "There are seven to eight people. Three [of them] again hold hands."

Mr Sulistyo firmly scotched earlier stories from a different agency that 40 bodies had been recovered. He warned others to leave the official comments to Basarnas.

Searchers are still focusing their efforts on two different sectors of ocean - known during the primary search as sectors five and seven - but bad weather was hampering efforts.

"As far as any visual sightings of more bodies concerned, bad weather means we can't really confirm anything from the air at this stage. For the boats on the sea; their speed is low, it's raining, so visibility is lousy," Mr Sulistyo said.

Divers from Basarnas were already on the scene on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday the Indonesian navy sent 47 of its own divers to join the search, but treacherous conditions meant none of them could take to the water.

The priority - as ordered by Indonesia President Joko Widodo - is to return bodies to their families so they can bury them. Muslim custom dictates that they should be buried within 24 hours.

In Surabaya, doctors, ambulances and experts were on hand to begin identifying them. Three hospitals and 130 ambulances spent the day on standby. Police disaster victims identification chief Budiono said he could not say how long the process would take - it would depend on the state of the bodies - but the focus would be on accuracy, not on speed.

He said there were three primary methods of identification: one via DNA, the second through fingerprints and the third through dental records. Photographs, clothing, jewellery and medical records could also be used as secondary identification methods.

The search for the black box flight recorder would come next, Mr Sulistyo said - something the airline is keenly anticipating so it can start to explain why this flight went down. Airline chief executive Tony Fernandes - while not wanting to speculate on a cause of the crash - pointed squarely at "very unique weather conditions" as an explanation.

Mr Sulistyo said nine fixed-wing aircraft and 17 helicopters were on standby waiting for better weather. A second US navy ship and another ship from Malaysia have also been dispatched to the area.- smh

Why won’t BN let PR help in flood relief and investigations...

In a plea for Malaysians to put aside race, religion and political differences, DAP elder statesman Lim Kit Siang has offered Pakatan Rakyat’s services to help set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the country’s worst floods.

In a statement, Lim said, “Such a RCI should be formed now, although it could start formal investigations after the floods have receded.”

Asking if Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin would agree to let Pakatan Rakyat nominate the Chairman of the RCI, Lim added that this was a necessary step to ensure Malaysia’s disaster management of floods did not become a “standing joke in the world”.

Saying, “DAP and Pakatan Rakyat are prepared to put political differences aside and work with the Barisan Nasional government to bring relief to the flood victims,” Lim also expressed his anger at how two DAP leaders who tried to deliver aid to flood victims recently were blocked from entering the flood relief centres.

Describing the incidents in Kluang at Kampung Bentong and Kampung Bentong Dalam as “deplorable”, Lim also condemned the bombing of his Twitter site with over 50 “incoherent” messages in the last two days as “petty and childish diversions at a time when the country is faced with a major disaster.”

Also in the line of fire was the National Security Council that Lim suspected “misled” the prime minister on the flood situation after the latter returned from Hawaii.

Saying he was troubled as to why Najib Razak had not visited the two worst-hit areas, Lim said, “Did the NSC withhold the information from the Prime Minister that Gua Musang and Kuala Krai were the two worst-hit areas”.

Lim also questioned if the decision not to visit these places were Najib’s own or if the NSC itself was “unaware” of the fact.

Another issue Lim brought up was the “complete collapse” of the NSC’s chain of command and communications at the district level.

Lim was of the opinion that if Najib had been told this crucial information by the NSC, he would have been spared from making a “blooper” by only declaring the floods a “disaster” and “major catastrophe” on the fourth day of his return from Hawaii and not earlier as he should have.

“This does not enhance public confidence in the competence, efficiency and professionalism of the NSC in being the master body responsible for floods disaster management in the country!”, Lim said while adding that Muhyiddin’s claim that he was in charge and that Putrajaya was aware of the actual flood situation was completely false.

He said, “These are classic examples of Ministerial statements which are just meaningless gibberish for the Minister who made them did not know what he was talking about – like his infamous claim that Malaysia’s education system was better than in United State, Britain and Germany!”

Saying Muhyiddin’s promise of a post-mortem was “not good enough”, Lim reasoned “it sounds very self-serving as if Muhyiddin is preparing the ground to pin the blame on the worst floods disaster in recent decades on everybody but himself and the NSC”.- fmt

Bodies, debris found as AirAsia plane believed found in sea...

The hunt for a missing AirAsia passenger plane appeared over Tuesday as wreckage and dozens of bodies were spotted at sea off Indonesia, prompting raw scenes of emotion from sobbing relatives of the 162 people aboard.

The Airbus A320-200 disappeared en route from Indonesia's second largest city Surabaya to Singapore during a storm early Sunday.

All indications now are that it crashed in the Java Sea southwest of the island of Borneo, with debris and dozens of bodies retrieved so far.

An air force plane saw a "shadow" on the seabed believed to be of the missing Flight QZ8501, National Search and Rescue Agency chief Bambang Soelistyo told a news conference in Jakarta.

Relatives of the 162 missing hugged each other and burst into tears in Surabaya as they watched footage of one body floating in the sea on a television feed of Soelistyo's press conference.

An Indonesian warship had recovered more than 40 bodies from the sea "and the number is growing", navy spokesman Manahan Simorangkir told AFP shortly afterwards.

'I cannot bring him back to life'

AirAsia's flamboyant chief executive, Tony Fernandes, expressed his grief over the first fatal incident to hit the region's biggest budget airline.

"My heart is filled with sadness for all the families involved in QZ 8501," Fernandes said on Twitter, adding that he was rushing to Surabaya.

Initial news of the debris dimmed the faint hopes of relatives of those missing.

"If that news is true, what can I do? I cannot bring him back to life," said Dwijanto, 60, whose son was on the plane along with five colleagues.

"My heart will be totally crushed if it's true. I will lose a son," he said.

Search chief Soelistyo said all efforts were now being concentrated on the location where the "shadow" and debris had been found, around 160 kilometres (100 miles) southwest of the town of Pangkalan Bun in Central Kalimantan on Borneo island.

The town has the nearest airstrip and is not far from the plane's last known position.

Members of the Indonesian air force carry items retrieved from the Java sea during search and rescue operations for the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501, in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan on Dec 30, 2014. AFP

President Joko Widodo was expected in Pangkalan Bun shortly and then head to Surabaya to meet the relatives, officials said.

Indonesian officials had already been preparing relatives for the worst, with Soelistyo saying Monday it was likely the plane was at "the bottom of the sea", based on its estimated position.

The aircraft lost contact early on Sunday about 40 minutes after takeoff, after the crew requested a change of flight plan due to stormy weather, in the third crisis for a Malaysian carrier this year.

In his last communication, the pilot said he wanted to avoid a menacing storm system, before all contact was lost.

Before take-off the pilot had asked for permission to fly at a higher level to avoid the storm but his request was not approved due to heavy traffic on the popular route, according to AirNav, Indonesia's flight navigation service.

In his final communication, the pilot asked to alter his course and repeated his original request to ascend to avoid the bad weather.

"The pilot requested to air traffic controllers to deviate to the left side due to bad weather, which was immediately approved," AirNav safety director Wisnu Darjono told AFP.

"After a few seconds the pilot requested to ascend from 32,000 to 38,000 feet but could not be immediately approved as some planes were flying above it at that time," he said.

That was the last communication with the flight.

"Two to three minutes later when the controller was going to give a clearance to a level of 34,000, the plane did not give any response," Darjono said.

International response

Indonesia's neighbours had responded swiftly with offers of help.

Australia, Singapore and Malaysia sent maritime surveillance aircraft and warships to assist in the search, joining Indonesian planes, ships and scores of fishing boats scouring the waters for signs of the ill-fated aircraft.

The operation had drawn comparisons with the ongoing search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 off Australia, but Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot said it did not appear to be a great mystery, with bad weather the likely cause this time.

China, which had 152 citizens on board MH370, offered to send a frigate and military aircraft to help with the search.

The missing plane was operated by AirAsia Indonesia, a unit of Malaysian-based AirAsia which dominates Southeast Asia's booming low-cost airline market and had never suffered a fatal accident. Most of the passengers were Indonesian.

The crash comes at the end of a disastrous year for Malaysian aviation.

Flight MH370 disappeared while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March with 239 passengers and crew, and in July another Malaysia Airlines flight -- MH17 -- was shot down over unrest-hit Ukraine, killing all 298 on board. – AFP

 Where is Rosmah Mansor...

Last nite I had dinner with a couple of friends. They kept asking met to lay off the PM. 'Why are you attacking him so much? Kasi chan lah".

As I said its nothing personal. I just like to poke fun at the high and mighty when they act small and chicken sh*tty.  Plus this is not some school boy hiding behind his mommy's skirt. This is the PM - hiding behind the wife's skirt. Chill guys. Its all in good fun lah.

Anyway here is a picture (from The Star) of the PM wading in the flood waters.

Is it the job of the PM to wade in the flood waters? Better watch out for buffalo leeches. They are always looking for a##  h&%#$.

Anyway there is some mystery about that plane ride the PM took from Hawaii to Los Angeles, then from Los Angeles to Hong Kong, from Los Angeles to Indianapolis.

Along the way the PM lost his plane. He returned home by commercial flight via Hong Kong. The PM's plane (and his wife) also got lost.

Some say the PM's plane is still in Los Angeles. Others say the plane is in Indianapolis.

Who cares where the PM's plane is.  The question is where is his wife? She seems to be missing from the country and maybe even from the plane.

The mystery of the PM's plane is now being talked about by a lot of people.   Before I say further here is  another picture of the PM that is going around.

This picture was taken very recently on board what looks like the PM's plane. The PM is sleeping soundly in his seat - possibly recovering from jet lag flying from Hawaii to Los Angeles, then from LA to Hong Kong and finally from Hong Kong to Malaysia.

It is too small to be an Airbus. Its a single aisle plane with space for three seats on each side. Possibly a Boeing 737. (Those are customised seats, seating two only on each side. There is also a bed in the background).

It is quite a harmless picture but still someone should tell the PM that the cleaning crew or cabin crew have been taking his picture while he was sleeping and sending it around. Tak baik lah ambil gambar orang tengah tidur.

Someone should also tell the PM not to sleep hanging his head down like that. I do that too and it causes severe pain in the back.

Debris is from missing AirAsia flight QZ8501, Indonesia confirms...

The operation to recover the bodies of passengers and crew aboard the ill-fated AirAsia flight QZ8501 has begun after the wreckage of the plane was found during an aerial search on Tuesday afternoon.

Djoko Murjatmodjo, Indonesia's director general of civil aviation, announced that debris spotted in water near where the plane lost contact was from the missing jet.

Three bodies had already been evacuated from the aircraft, the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) said, shortly after the plane's wreckage was found.

The operation will now concentrate on recovering the passengers, locating the black box and lifting the plane from the sea floor, after which the National Transportation Safety Committee would commence its investigation into the cause of the crash.

The head of search and rescue, Sulistyo, grimly announced about 2.45pm local time (6.45pm AEDT) that evidence had been mounting for almost four hours of the location of the downed jet.

He said the plane's emergency door had been identified, as well as what looked like the shadow of the plane's body under the water.

"We are now officially announcing that on the third day of the search, we found the debris," Sulistyo said.

Family members of passengers onboard AirAsia flight QZ8501 inside the crisis centre set up at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya.

The plane is lying on the ocean floor at a depth of 25 to 30 metres, which will allow recovery authorities to utilise divers, Sulistyo said.

More sophisticated equipment could be used in the future, Sulistyo said, but Pangkalanbun would be designated as the new centre for the operation.

Tears flowed as a live broadcast of the announcement was played to families at Juanda airport, Surabaya. Many held their heads in their hands or simply sat in stunned silence, holding each other and crying.

Several family members fell unconscious in the families' room and one was rushed out, screaming hysterically as the impact of the announcement sank in.

The hysterical scenes were prompted by the screening on live television of a floating, near-naked body. News station TVOne later apologised for airing the image.

Haidar Fauzi, the father of missing flight attendant Khairunisa Haidar Fauzi, said he had seen the report and was "well prepared" for his daughter to be found dead.

"Now, even if there is hope, she's a stewardess, she's cabin crew. She would have rescued a passenger before saving herself," he said.

Another photo of debris that was confirmed to be from the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501.

Soelistyowati, an aunt of two passengers on board, said: "We are in shock. We were faced with the possibility of a tragedy [before the confirmation]. But, even with the news of the wreckage found, their big sister and us still hopes she somehow managed to survive."

An aircraft from Basarnas spotted the debris after 4pm AEDT near Pangkalanbun off the island of Borneo, Basarnas spokesman Andriandi said. The area is quite close to where the plane first lost contact.

The news of the floating debris came after Indonesian authorities virtually doubled the search area on Tuesday morning to 156,000 square kilometres.

The final communications between the pilot of flight QZ8501 and air traffic control revealed the Airbus 320-200 captain, Iriyanto, had requested permission at 6.12am local time on Sunday to turn left to avoid a storm.

The request was granted and the plane turned left seven miles. The captain then requested to be able to climb saying: "Request to higher level," according to AirNav standards and safety director Wisnu Darjono, as quoted by the Jakarta Post.

The air traffic controller responded: "Intended to what level?", to which Iriyanto indicated he wanted to go to 38,000 feet. However there were six planes in the area at the time and so QZ8501 was told it could only go to 34,000 feet.

Debris spotted in the water that was confirmed to be from the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501.

"But when we informed the pilot of the approval at 6.14am, we received no reply," Mr Wisnu said.

To address concerns of the families about a lack of hard information, the agency has established a three-way video link between the Basarnas crisis centre in Jakarta, the Juanda airport families' room and the department of transport situation room, also in Jakarta.

"That will hopefully ease the minds of the families because they can see directly what's going on in Basarnas, so they'll know that everybody is working hard in the search for their loved ones," said Basarnas spokesman Mochamad Hernanto.

AirAsia has offered families, and some journalists, a flight over the area on Wednesday, at the request of the families.

"They believe that, while the search and rescue [agencies] are working hard to try to locate the aircraft, they believe that with their presence, with their praying of the next of kin, that will help the search and rescue team to quickly find and locate the aircraft," an AirAsia spokesman said.- smh

Nation fears the worst as plane goes missing...

The fate of an AirAsia jet carrying 162 passengers remains unclear, a search and rescue mission on Sunday finding no clues as to its whereabouts as shocked family members awaited any news of the jetliner.

AirAsia flight QZ8501, en route to Singapore from Indonesia’s second-biggest city Surabaya in East Java, was officially announced missing two and a half hours after it took off at 5:36 a.m. on Sunday. It was scheduled to arrive at Changi at 8:30 a.m. local time.

The Airbus A320-200 aircraft with registration number PK-AXC was owned and operated by budget airline PT Indonesia AirAsia, part of Malaysia’s AirAsia Group.

The plane was carrying 155 passengers, including 16 children and one infant, AirAsia said in a statement. There were also seven crew members on board.

Most of the people on board were Indonesian citizens, with seven foreign nationals -- one Singaporean, one Malaysian, one British citizen, three South Koreans and one French citizen, who was the copilot.

In a press conference following the flight’s disappearance, the Transportation Ministry’s acting director general for air transportation Djoko Murjatmodjo said that QZ8501 was initially flying at 32,000 feet.

However, the pilot contacted air traffic control in Jakarta at 6:12 a.m., requesting to fly at a higher altitude of 38,000 feet and to deviate to the left side of its route -- route M635 -- in an effort to avoid clouds.

“Air traffic control granted the request to deviate to the left side, but refused the request to fly higher because of air traffic,” Djoko said.

The flight was last seen on air traffic control radar at 6:16 a.m.

“The flight’s last position was between Tanjung Pandan [in Bangka Belitung province] and Pontianak [in West Kalimantan],” Djoko said.

AirAsia said the captain, Iriyanto, had logged a total of 6,100 flying hours, and the copilot, Remi Emmanual Plesel, had 2,275 hours. Iriyanto is a former Indonesian Air Force F16 pilot.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the Surabaya-Singapore route taken by the flight was extremely cloudy.

“Based on the agency’s weather map, there were a lot of thick, layered clouds on the route when the incident occurred,” BMKG head Andi Eka Sakya said.

Andi said it was suspected that the thick, layered cumulonimbus clouds had led to the tragic fate of the aircraft.

What happened?: AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes (left) talks with director Sunu Widyatmoko during a news conference regarding missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya on Sunday. Reuters/Beawiharta

Later in the day, Air Chief Marshal FH Bambang Soelistyo, who is the chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), said that it was suspending search and rescue operations with the approach of nightfall and would resume activities the next day.

The agency has set up two operation centers, with the main center located at Basarnas office in Central Jakarta and the tactical center situated in Pangkal Pinang in Bangka Belitung.

Basarnas would be assisted on Monday by Malaysia and Singapore, Bambang said.

“Malaysia has offered three aircraft and three vessels, while Singapore has offered one aircraft. Australia has extended similar assistance as well,” he said, adding that all operations would be based in Pangkal Pinang.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said in a press conference in Surabaya that the flight’s disappearance was his “worst nightmare”.

“Our priority is looking after all the next-of-kin for my staff and passengers. We will do whatever we can. We continue to pass on information as it comes,” he said .

Fernandes left for Surabaya the same day upon hearing the news.

Separately, French planemaker Airbus said in a statement that the missing aircraft was part of its A320 aircraft family. It delivered the aircraft to AirAsia from its production line in October 2008.

At Juanda Airport in Surabaya, dozens of relatives waited in the crisis center room, some sobbing, others looking dazed as they waited for updates from officials.

Most of the passengers on board were middle-class families planning to spend their New Year holidays in the city-state.

Having a presence in most of Southeast Asia, AirAsia has never lost a plane before and has a good safety track record. - See more at:- thejakartapost

School opening delayed a week...

The Education Ministry today announced the postponement of the start of the 2015 school session for the whole country by one week because of the floods in several states.

Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the new school session would begin on Jan 11 for Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor on Jan 12 for the other states.

"The postponement is inevitable due to the use of several schools as flood evacuation centres and floods at several other schools.

"It will take time for the teachers, parents and schoolchildren affected by the floods to make the necessary preparations by the time the school session starts," he said in a statement.

The new school session for Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor was originally scheduled to begin on Jan 4 and for the other states, on Jan 5.

"As Education Minister, I understand and am concerned about the difficulties faced in this situation by all parties including the schools' management, teachers, parents and students if the 2015 school session starts as scheduled,"
he said.

Muhyiddin said until yesterday, the Education Ministry found that 340 schools in seven states were affected by the floods, either they were turned into flood relief centres or were inundated by flood waters.

He also advised the schools' management that after the flood waters had subsided, they should use that time to organise gotong-royong to clean up the schools and compounds for the safety and comfort of the students.

Up to this morning, the number of flood victims in six states including Selangor has reached 225,731.

Flood victims live off rainwater-soaked noodles...

Deprived of proper food, victims stranded in the country’s worst flood in decades have resorted to desperate measures to fill their growling stomachs.

Even those politically connected are not spared from the national disaster, which has displaced more than 225,000 people, as Annual Bakri Harun can testify.

Annual, a former political secretary to ex-Kelantan menteri besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, said he was forced to soak instant noodles in rain water for food.

“I have lived in the dark for the last five days and have only been eating biscuits.

“There are instant noodles, but no electricity to boil water and the stove is not working.

“Out of hunger, I was forced to collect rain water with my bare hands and pour them into the instant noodle cup.

“Imagine cooking instant noodles with cold rain water,” Annual told Malaysiakini when met at his residence in Kampung Wakaf Zain, Bachok.

Annual’s house was inundated with water, 60cm deep, last Wednesday and has remained flooded for five days now.

‘Fruitless hunt for rice’

In the five days, he said, he has only eaten rice once after his neighbour generously shared some with him.

Annual (left) said he had braved strong currents, with water up to his waist, several times to search for rice but to no avail.

The loss of property has also been significant for Annual, as his Mercedes and Perodua Viva vehicles sit in the muddy water.

He said the water had risen rapidly, giving his family little time to save anything.

Annual has since sent off his wife and children to his parents’ home where they would be safe, but is worried about leaving his house.

For now, he is keeping watch over the house alone, with only his pets for company.

A frustrated Annual said the slow pace of aid from the authorities to reach flood victims was disappointing.

“Before this, I had to eat stale biscuits, which are shared with my cat, chicken and bird,” he said.

However, there was a glimmer of hope for Annual and his fellow villagers yesterday as a volunteer NGO, Darul Hijrah, arrived to distribute food and supplies. - mk
